Read -- Mark 10:13-16

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

-- Mark 10:14 (NIV)

I wish everyone could meet my friend Audrey and hear her tell one of her stories. Audrey had only been a Christian a couple of years when I first met her, yet she possessed an understanding of God that many Bible scholars lack.

Audrey loved Jesus a lot and prayed or talked with Him often. She once told me, "When I was little I also loved God a whole bunch. I used to draw Him pretty pictures and write Him letters of love." Audrey recalled one instance when she wrote God a letter and then got it ready to mail. She put the picture, which she was so proud of, in an envelope and addressed it. She wrote, "To God, in heaven. From Audrey." After addressing the envelope, Audrey got her mom's book of stamps and stuck them all over the envelope. Audrey told me, "Heaven is a long way away, so my letter needed lots of stamps." Needless to say, her mother did not agree with her logic and this was the last time Audrey could use stamps to send her letters.

From that day on, Audrey decided she would hand deliver her letters and pictures. She said, "I would take my letters outside and throw them up in the air." They always fell back down to the ground and so Audrey thought God did not reach down to get her letters because He did not want to scare her away. Audrey said, "But, I knew Jesus wanted and needed my letters and pretty pictures so I would throw them up in the air and run into the house." She continued by saying, "I know God got my letters and He has my pretty pictures hanging on His refrigerator door, right now."

Yes, Audrey did and still does have a vivid imagination. However, in Mark 10:14-15 we read the words of Jesus, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."

The faith of a little child is so precious. They are so trusting and know without a shadow of doubt that God sent His only Son, Jesus, into this world to die on a cross, for them, and He rose again and is now in heaven. In Ephesians 2:8-9 we read, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast." Salvation is God's free gift to mankind.

John 3:16 is a verse many of us learned as children, yet it applies to all ages. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." God, our Heavenly Father, loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, Jesus.

Do you feel like you have outgrown God? If so, come back to Him today and renew your child-like faith. He truly does care for all of His children; both big and small. The gospel message can also be summed up in the children's song, "Jesus Loves Me." "Yes, Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so."

Today, I challenge you to talk to God in prayer and possibly write Him a love letter or draw Him a pretty picture. Tell Him how much you love Him and how much His love means to you.

YOU CAN NEVER OUTGROW
GOD'S LOVE FOR YOU
